Evangelist

Mark (John Mark)

AD 12 – AD 68

A young man from Jerusalem whose mother Mary hosted the early church in her home (Acts 12:12). Mark accompanied Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey but turned back at Pamphylia, causing a sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas that split the team. Later restored to Paul's confidence — 'Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry' (2 Timothy 4:11) — Mark also served as Peter's interpreter and wrote the Gospel of Mark, widely regarded as the earliest Gospel and the most action-packed account of Jesus' ministry.
